Our Project
As Parents or carer, We often support children with their homework and generally encourage them to make the most of their learning opportunity. The purpose of the WGLS centre ALANCE is to provide the same kind of support for orphans and vulnerable children who don’t receive this at home. In a safe and supervised environment the children receive assistance with their daily homework, undergo curriculum-based revision and strengthen their ability to read and write in English and French. Children also have access to pastoral care, helping with their psychosocial needs as well as vocational training in sewing and farming. if you don’t have an O-level certificate you will find it extremely difficult to find employment. The project is now managed by Carine, a Student NURSE and a primary school teacher who was responsible for the education of our very own who brings an enormous level of skill and excellence to the projects
Protection
Child Protection Course
Child protection is about protecting children from violence, exploitation, abuse and neglect and keeping them safe from harm. It is about promoting the health and welfare of children and young people helping them to grow up in a safe and supportive environment.
Equality
Equality & Diversity
Equality & Diversity is a concise course that explains the fundamentals of equality and diversity and how they affect you. The Equality & Diversity course is accredited by Secured by Design and meets national Police approved standards. This includes looking at the Cameroon equality act 2010 and the ‘protected characteristics’ that form the basis of the law, as well some of the barriers that can prevent equality being realised, such as prejudice, stereotyping, discrimination, victimisation and harassment. This course can help introduce new recruits to the subject or act as a refresher for current employees.
